As technologies develop the range of services related to the use of mobile devices also becomes more extensive, and users, including children, can receive various online and premium-rate services. Thus, it is possible to access unlawful information, as well information that is harmful to children. As a result, children should be protected to the extent possible. In cooperation with other Latvian operators and considering the most topical European trends and ideas, a Code of Conduct for the protection of children in the communications sector has been drafted (lv). It contains a list of unlawful and potentially harmful information for children, as well as a list of possible measures to protect children from this information.
If you would like to protect your children from unauthorized content online, you can install a content filter in your computer. Various filters are available online, including free filters like http://www1.k9webprotection.com/. Nevertheless, the LMT may not be held responsible for the content, delivery and efficiency of such software.
Information about content filters and their functioning, as well as how to choose and use them and what content filters are available is also available from the Online Safety section of drossinternets.lv. More information about the protection of children from unauthorized information while they use the Internet via a handset or a computer is also available from the Datora drošība section of esidross.lv.
If you would like to deny access to premium-rate calls and text messages from the device that your child uses (phone, tablet, computer), the individual in whose name the phone is registered should lodge a written request with any LMT Customer Service Center.
Please note that these restrictions apply only to premium-rate services, and that you will still be able to continue using the services that are not subject to premium rates (like the Mobile bank).
Content filter app (application) is a software that is downloaded into a smartphone, tablet or computer to monitor and restrict access of your children to specific information and activities online.
Currently, several paid and free apps are available that offer extensive functionality.
